• Central Michigan will take on Kent State on Sunday in a Mid-American Conference gymnastics meet.
• The Chippewas and Golden Flashes, who have won a combined eight MAC Championships in the last nine years, find themselves in the middle of the league standings, both with two losses.
• Ball State stands in first place at 2-0, followed by Northern Illinois (4-1) and Eastern Michigan (3-1). CMU and Kent State are tied for fourth.
• The Chippewas are coming off a disappointing performance in a MAC dual lost last weekend at Ball State. They posted a 194.000 score, their second-lowest of the season behind only the 192.075 they recorded in their season-opening tri-meet.
• That performance dropped the Chippewas’ season average to 194.125, which ranks 43rd in the nation. Kent State (194.660) ranks 31st.
• The Golden Flashes lost to Eastern Michigan last weekend, scoring a season-best 195.550.
• Nationally, the Chippewas rank 40th on vault, 49th on parallel bars, 42nd on balance beam, and 26th on floor exercise. Kent State ranks 32nd on vault, 37th on bars, 39th on beam and 21st on floor.
• After the Kent State meet, the Chippewas close the regular season with three consecutive home meets vs. Bowling Green (Feb. 26), Rutgers (March 5) and Northern Illinois (March 11).
