MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women's golf team reaches the mid-point of its fall schedule this week when it competes in the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti.
Â
The Chippewas and host Eastern Michigan will join eight other teams in the two-day, 54-hole event. The tournament opens with rounds 1 and 2 on Monday and concludes with the third round on Tuesday.
Â
Eagle Crest will play to par 72 over 6,170 yards.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas are coming off a third-place finish two weeks ago in the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Invitational in Rochester. The third-place finish, which came in a 12-team field, was the second best by a CMU team in a tournament since the program's resurrection before the 2014-15 season.
Â
CMU finished just two shots behind co-champions Oakland and Loyola-Chicago.
Â
CMU's Bria Colosky and Meghan Deardorff finished in a tie for third place at Oakland, a 36-hole event. Those dual thirds are the best individual finishes by a CMU golfer since the program's re-birth.
Â
Colosky closed the tournament with a 72, the third-best score in program history.
Â
THE LINEUP
The Chippewa lineup for the Shirley Spork Invitational comprises Jami Laude, Holly Hines, Bria Colosky, Meghan Deardorff and Rachel Leucuta. CMU's Danielle Sawyer will play in the event as an individual.
Â
LAST YEAR
The Chippewas finished ninth in a 10-team field in the inaugural Shirley Sport Invitational.
Â
THE FIELD
The Chippewas and host Eagles will be joined by Mid-American Conference brethren Bowling Green, Ohio and Western Michigan, along with Cleveland State, Loyola-Chicago, Oakland, Fort Wayne and Dayton. Michigan will have two individuals partake in the event.
