Senior forward posted two double-doubles in leading Chippewas to 3-0 week
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Reyna Frost was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Frost, a senior forward from Reese, helped lead the Chippewas to three victories last week, averaging 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.6 steals while making 54.8 percent (23-of-42) of her field goal attempts.
Her three-game tally included two double-doubles – giving her three this season and 34 for her career – and a spot atop the program's career rebounding list.
In a hard-fought 75-68 victory over UCF on Wednesday, Frost scored a season-high 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds; in a 74-61 win over Virginia on Saturday, Frost had 16 points and 10 rebounds while making 57.1 percent (8-of-14) of her field goal tries; on Sunday, in the Chippewas' dominant 73-50 victory over Chattanooga, Frost had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Frost supplanted Crystal Bradford as the program's career leader in rebounds during the victory over Virginia. Frost has 1,163 career boards. Bradford, who played at CMU from 2011-15, had 1,140 career rebounds.
It marked the fourth time that Frost has earned the MAC West Player of the Week Award.
The Chippewas, who are 5-1 and ranked sixth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, play at Iona (1-4) in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Friday, Nov. 30, and then take on Quinnipiac (3-3) on Sunday, Dec. 2, in Hamden, Conn.
