The Chippewas posted a 194.525 in winning at Illinois State last weekend.
BACK TO THE MAC
Sunday's dual is CMU's first in the conference since Jan. 28, when it posted a 195.650 in beating Northern Illinois.
HISTORY
The Chippewas and Golden Flashes are winningest programs in MAC history. The league began crowning a regular-season champion in 2003, and Kent State has won eight of those titles and the Chippewas seven.
QUOTING COACH Jerry Reighard
"This is a big dual meet. It has, perennially, determined who is going to be the regular-season champion and so we look at this as being the first of many tests in the second half of the season. We have been performing very well. We're hitting every event.
"This is a stage-setter for us, there's pride on the line, and when we talk about Chippewa pride this is the pinnacle. When you look at most other (CMU) teams, it's a Central vs. Western type situation. For gymnastics, it's Central vs. Kent. I know that they're coming in charged up. I really believe that we're the best team in the conference, the coaches have said that in the polls, but each week you have to prove it. No one's going to hand it to you."
NEXT
The Chippewas go to Bowling Green for a MAC meet on Sunday, Feb. 25. Ohio State will partake in the meet, making it a tri.
