Nine CMU Gymnasts Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Nine members of the Central Michigan gymnastics team were named Academic All-Mid-American Conference.
Two of those nine, seniors Katy Clements and Bryttany Kaplan, received the honor for the third consecutive year. Clements is a journalism major who carries a 3.57 grade point average, and Kaplan is a recreation & event management major with a 3.92 GPA.
To be eligible for Academic All-MAC, a gymnastics must carry a cumulative 3.2 GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's competitions throughout the 2018 season.
CMU's other honorees, with their year, major and GPA: Courtney Campbell, senior, biomedical sciences and Spanish, 3.58; Kailey Miller, junior, biology/biomedical sciences, 3.41; Denelle Pedrick, sophomore, exercise science: clinical, 3.48; Gianna Plaksa, junior, biology/biomedical science, 3.93; Hayley Porter, sophomore, exercise science: kinesiology, 3.48; Miranda Wieczorek, senior, exercise science: kinesiology, 3.31; Abbie Rose Zoeller, junior, exercise science: clinical, 3.46.
It is the second consecutive year that Campbell, Miller and Plaksa have earned league all-academic honors. With their nine honorees, the Chippewas ranked second in the league.
