
10 Facts about Central Michigan Gymnastics Going into NCAA Regionals

1. This is the 10th straight year that CMU has qualified for Regionals and the 15th time in school history.
2. The team is coming off a 197.025 victory at the MAC Championships. This team score ranks third in CMU history.
3. The team posted a record-breaking 49.475 on the balance beam at the MAC Championships which ties Michigan for the highest beam score among teams at the Tuscaloosa Regional.
4. CMU posted a 49.400 on the uneven bars at the MAC Championships to tie for third in school history. This score ranks tied for third among teams at the Tuscaloosa Regional.
5. CMU has dominated on uneven bars this year, scoring a 48.825 or higher in 12 out of 13 meets, seven of which were 49.000 or higher.
6. Central Michigan has had four gymnasts hit a 9.900 this season at least once on uneven bars: Gianna Plaksa (four times), Bryttany Kaplan (three times), Hayley Porter (twice) and Kennedy Rae Johnson (once).
7. The Chippewas return two National Qualifiers from last year: Katy Clements on beam and Denelle Pedrick on vault.
8. Senior Katy Clements has been a force to be reckoned with this season. She scored a 9.950 at the MAC Championships, finished tied for 14th nationally and became a Second-Team All-American for her beam performances this season.
9. Individual gymnasts have tied or broke their career bests in 29-of-34 total events this season, 12 of which came at the 2018 MAC Championships.
10. CMU is vying for its first-ever team NCAA Nationals qualifier in school history with a team finish in the top two.
