Hines Leads Chippewas In Final Round At Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – Holly Hines shot a 6-over par 78 to lead the Central Michigan golf team on Tuesday during the third and final round of the Ball State Cardinal Classic at The Players Club.

The Chippewas' Jami Laude closed with a 79 to finish with a team-best 234 total. Laude, a sophomore, finished among a group tied for 40th.

CMU's Bria Colosky shot 81 on Tuesday to finish at 236 and among a group tied for 50th.

Also for the Chippewas on Tuesday, Meghan Deardorff shot 80 and Danielle Sawyer posted an 85. Deardorff finished at 245, Sawyer at 246.

The Chippewas combined to shoot 318 on Tuesday. That, coupled with Monday's 315 and 317, left them with a 54-hole 950 total. They tied for 14th with Evansville in the 16-team field.

Indianapolis, the defending Division II national champion, shot 292 on Tuesday to finish with a 2-over 286 total and easily defend its tournament title. The Greyhounds finished 35 shots ahead of runners-up Ball State and Southern Illinois.

Indianapolis golfers took the top three spots, led by medalist Kennedy Holtsclaw who closed with a 70 to finished with a 3-under 213 total.

The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the Oakland Golden Grizzly Invitational at Katke-Cousins Golf Course in Rochester. The two-day, 54-hole stroke play event is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 24.
