MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan field hockey team will travel to Athens, Ohio this weekend for two games, the first a nonleague matchup and the second a Mid-American Conference battle with host Ohio.
Â
The Chippewas will play UC Davis on Friday (6 p.m.) and then take on Ohio on Sunday (noon). UC Davis is 4-6 after a 1-0 loss to Ohio on Thursday. The Bobcats are 3-4, 1-0 MAC.
CMU is 1-9 after a 2-1 nonconference home loss to Michigan State on Tuesday.
Â
CMU COACH CATHERINE OSTOICH
The Chippewas played well against the Spartans on Tuesday.
Â
"We're focusing on the great things that we did during that game to carry over into Friday's game. We need to possess the ball longer than UC Davis does. We need to make sure that we show up and play for the full 70 minutes.
Â
"UC Davis plays very similarly to us. They have a very similar press (defense) and outlet (passing). They are a very good team, but we are a very good team as well. We just have to be there for the full 70 minutes."
Â
NEXT
The Chippewas return home for a MAC game with Miami (Ohio) on Friday, Sept. 28. The RedHakws, are the defending league regular-season and tournament champions.
