EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Central Michigan field hockey dropped a 3-0 nonconference decision to Michigan State on Sunday at the Spartans' Ralph Young Field.
How It Happened
MSU broke the ice with a goal midway through the second quarter.
"We put together a decent first quarter and then kind of just fell apart after that," CMU coach Catherine Ostoich said. "We definitely held our own, but could've put up a better performance."
The Spartans, who outshot the Chippewas, 36-4, led 2-0 at halftime, and then got an insurance goal early in the third quarter.
Goalie Play
Chippewa goalkeeper Abigail Ebersole made 18 saves, breaking her previous Mid-American Conference season high of 16.
"She shows up to every game and she gives it her all every single time," Ostoich said. "Super impressed with her and proud of her."
Ebersole has made 146 saves on the season.
Next
CMU will travel to Miami (Ohio) for its regular-season finale, a MAC game, on Saturday, Nov. 2 (11 a.m.). The MAC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 6.
