Sawyer Places 8th At Kingsmill

Chippewas make 23-shot improvement
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Central Michigan's Danielle Sawyer shot a final-round 81 on Tuesday to finish in eighth place in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary, on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
Sawyer finished with a 231 total to finish 13 shots behind winner Mia Kness of Seton Hall. Kness closed with a 1-over 73 for a six-shot victory over Sarah Kahn of High Point.
Sawyer made eight birdies in the 54-hole tournament, tying Kness for the most in the field.
The Chippewas shot a 328 team score, a 23-shot improvement over their second-round 351. CMU finished in 13th place with a 1,024 total. Seton Hall won the event with a final-round 304 for a 918 total. High Point finished second, 10 shots back.
Sawyer was playing in the tournament as an individual so her score did not count in CMU's team total.
Meghan Deardorff shot 80 on Tuesday to lead the Chippewas, while Jami Laude shot 81, Bria Colosky posted an 82, Rachel Leucuta carded an 85, and Holly Hines shot 90.
Laude and Deardorff both shot a 54-hole 255 total to finish among a group tied for 53rd, while Colosky (258) tied for 61st, and Leucuta (265) tied for 71st.
The field comprised 14 teams and 80 players.
