Softball Ties With Buffalo In Series Finale

Chippewas entertain rival Western Michigan in MAC twinbill on Tuesday
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Central Michigan and Buffalo played to a 3-3 tie in the third and final game of their Mid-American Conference softball series on Sunday at the Bulls' Nan Harvey Field.
The Chippewas and Bulls finished 1-1-1 in the three-game set. CMU is 12-17-1, 3-2-1 MAC.
Buffalo's Alexis Matheny led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a home run to forge a 3-3 tie. Kaitlyn Bean relieved CMU starter Samantha Howell and then walked the bases loaded before recording a strikeout for the game's final out. The game was called and declared a tie because of weather.
Shaidan Knapp doubled to lead CMU's five-hit attack.
Howell allowed three runs on six hits over six innings. She struck out six and walked three.
Alley Power started for Buffalo and allowed two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings. Lace Smith went the final 1 1/3 innings.
The Chippewas are scheduled to entertain Western Michigan on Tuesday, April 2 (1 p.m.) in a MAC doubleheader at Margo Jonker Stadium.
