Lemay notches second-consecutive hat trick
SAN DIEGO -- The Central Michigan Lacrosse team lost the first of its two games in California on Tuesday, falling to San Diego State, 16-10.

The Chippewas (2-2) play at UC Davis on Friday, March 8 (7 p.m.). The Aggies are 3-4. San Diego State is 4-1.

"When we stuck together, our game plan was executed very well," CMU coach Sara Tisdale said. "SDSU likes to play a fast and aggressive game. We lost our composure and (when we) gave into their frantic style, we made mistakes.

"Heading into UC Davis, we have to keep our eyes forward and trust in our preparation."

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chippewas trailed for most of the game, but kept their deficit at two or three goals until the Aztecs scored four consecutive to up their lead to 13-7 with under eight minutes to play.

The Chippewas crept within four, 14-10, on back-to-back goals by Natalie Karlen and Jocelyne Lemay with just over three minutes remaining. San Diego State's Morgan Taylor scored twice in the final 2:12 to ice it.

LEADERS
Lemay, who on Tuesday was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored three goals for her second-consecutive hat trick. Karlen, Jessica Schuchardt and Shannon Doyle added two goals apiece.

CMU goalkeeper Dominique Hamman made 15 saves and finished with a .484 save percentage.
