Chippewas home on Saturday for nonleague twinbill with Detroit Mercy
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan did all of the scoring in the sixth inning on Wednesday in handing Central Michigan a 4-0 loss in a Mid-American Conference softball game at the Broncos' Ebert Field.
CMU is 16-20-1, 7-4-1 MAC. The Broncos are 11-17, 4-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos used four singles, a walk, and a Chippewa error in sending eight batters to the plate during their four-run sixth inning.
To that point, it had been a tight, evenly played game with CMU collecting three hits and the Broncos four.
IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman Kaitlyn Bean (6-3) went 5 1/3 innings in taking the loss, her first in her last four starts. Bean allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits. She struck out three and walked one. Samantha Howell went the final 2/3 of an inning relief.
Reily Galloway (4-6) went the distance for the victory. She struck out three and walked two.
AT THE PLATE
CMU finished with three hits, all of them singles by Tala Dean, Rachel Vieira and Morgan Gardner.
The Chippewas stranded seven baserunners.
