Nine Chippewa Gymnasts Honored By MAC For Academics

CMU's Kailey Miller, Gianna Plaksa named to squad for third-consecutive year
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Nine Central Michigan Chippewas were named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference gymnastics team for the 2019 season.
CMU is one of four league institutions to put nine student-athletes on the squad.
CMU's Nora Fettinger, a sophomore from Hemlock, Mich., and a biology major, is one of five MAC gymnasts who were named to the squad with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The other Chippewas who earned the honor, with their year, hometown, major and GPA: Gianna Plaksa, senior, Mountain Top, Pa., biology, 3.92; Denelle Pedrick, junior, Wilcox, Sask., exercise science, 3.72; Macey Hilliker, graduate student, Bay City, Mich., master's in public health, 3.63; Hayley Porter, junior, Bellevue, Neb., exercise science, 3.56; Kennedy Rae Johnson, sophomore, Cordova, Tenn., undecided, 3.53; Abbie Rose Zoeller, senior, Flowery Branch, Ga., exercise science, 3.49; Kailey Miller, senior, Lexington, Ky., biology/biomedical sciences, 3.47; Skyler Memmel, senior, Dousman, Wis., sport management, 3.43;
It marks the third-consecutive season that both Plaksa and Miller have been named to the honor squad, and the second year in a row for Pedrick, Porter and Zoeller.
To be eligible for the squad, a gymnast must possess a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's meets. Freshmen and transfers in their first year at their new school are not eligible.
