Chippewas go to Toledo for MAC series next weekend
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- After four straight road contests, the Central Michigan baseball team returns to Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium on Tuesday (4 p.m.) for a nonconference clash with Cornerstone.

The Chippewas, 25-10, are coming off a three-game Mid-American Conference series at Kent State, where they dropped two of three. They sit in third place in the MAC at 8-4, two games behind Miami (Ohio), which is 10-2 in the conference. The Chippewas return to MAC play this weekend with a three-game series at Toledo.
HEAVYWEIGHT OFFENSE
The Chippewa offense averages 8.8 runs per contest, ranking first in the MAC and 10th nationally.
CMU ranks fourth nationally in walks (223), third in on-base percentage (.428), 21st in batting average (.300) and 24th in hits (351). The Chippewas rank 12th nationally and third in the conference in triples (15).
CMU ranks second in the conference in fielding percentage (.970).
AT THE PLATE
Junior center fielder Zach Gilles ranks second in the MAC in batting average (.410) and hits (53) and is fourth in on-base percentage (.503).
Sophomore shortstop Zavier Warren is 11th in the country in walks (36) and doubles (16), 15th in on-base percentage (.514) and 21st in runs (43). Warren ranks fifth in the MAC in batting average (.377), tied for third in hits (53) and tied second in RBI (38).
Sophomore Griffin Lockwood-Powell ranks eighth in the nation in RBI (48). The catcher/first baseman leads the MAC in RBI and home runs (seven) while ranking third in the conference in sacrifice flies (five).
Senior Jacob Crum leads the nation in triples (seven) and ranks first in the MAC in slugging percentage (.639) and in total bases (85).
ON THE MOUND
Right handed reliever Cameron Miller is 1-2 with a 1.48 ERA, earning 22 strikeouts with no walks and five saves in 12 appearances.

Junior Cameron Brown has yet to suffer a loss this season, earning a conference best six wins. The right-hander owns a 3.44 ERA with 40 strikeouts in nine starts.
Senior Pat Leatherman is 5-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 42 strikeouts.
SCOUTING
The Golden Eagles enter Tuesday's game 14-20 after splitting a doubleheader with Sienna Heights April 12.
Aaron Krupansky is one of five Golden Eagles with a batting average over .300, leading Cornerstone with a .362 average and 29 RBI.
Collin Young is 5-2 with a 1.80 ERA in seven starts, accumulating 51 strikeouts in 45 innings with two complete games.

The Chippewas open their three-game MAC series at Toledo on Friday (3 p.m.). The Rockets, 11-21, 2-8 MAC, play host to Oakland on Tuesday and travel to Purdue-Fort Wayne on Wednesday.
