Nonleaguer Tuesday With MSU, Then A Big Weekend For CMU Baseball

Chippewas poised to claim first MAC title since 2015
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – One more nonleaguer, and then a big Mid-American Conference series.
The Central Michigan baseball team will entertain Michigan State in a nonconference game on Tuesday (4 p.m.) at Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium. The Chippewas, winners of 11 straight games, are 39-12.
The Chippewas won the first meeting with Michigan State, 8-6, on April 3 in East Lansing. The Spartans are 19-31 after taking two of three games from Iowa in a Big Ten series over the weekend.

The Chippewas go into their final regular-season series this weekend leading the Mid-American Conference and looking to claim their first regular-season league championship since 2015.
The Chippewas and Miami (Ohio) are scheduled to open on Thursday (3 p.m.). Game two is set for Friday (3 p.m.) and the finale is slated for Saturday (1 p.m.).
CMU is 19-5 in conference play. Second-place Ball State, which is 17-5 in conference play, entertains Toledo in a three-game series this weekend. Miami is 15-8.
MAC TOURNAMENT
The top six teams in the final standings advance to the MAC Tournament in Avon, Ohio. The regular-season champion earns the No. 1 seed. The Chippewas have clinched a top-two seed.
The MAC Tournament is scheduled for Sprenger Stadium, which is home to the minor league Lake Erie Crushers. The tournament opens on Wednesday, May 22. As one of the top-two seeds, the Chippewas will receive a first-round bye and will play their tournament opener on Thursday, May 23.
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas swept a three-game MAC series at Eastern Michigan over the weekend. It was the Chippewas' third-consecutive league sweep and their fourth of the season.
Sunday's 8-7 victory over EMU was the Chippewas' 11th consecutive win.
