Softball Faces Two Ranked Teams This Weekend

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan softball team travels to Athens, Ga. for the Georgia Classic this weekend at Georgia's Turner Stadium.
The Chippewas kick off the tournament against Austin Peay (3-3) at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and No. 19 Georgia (9-3) at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday (3:30 p.m.) they meet the host Bulldogs and then take on Austin Peay (6 p.m.). CMU closes the tournament on Sunday (10:30 a.m.) against No. 21 James Madison (3-1) at 10:30 a.m.
Last Weekend
The Chippewas opened the season by finishing 0-5 last weekend in Clermont, Fla. The Chippewas fell to Connecticut, Stetson and Purdue last weekend.
Leaders
Junior outfielder Tala Dean leads the Chippewas with a .385 batting average. Dean went 5-for-13 last weekend in Clermont, while Kelsey Alexander hit .300 with two RBI. It marked the first collegiate games for Alexander, a freshman catcher from Ypsilanti.

The Chippewas head back to the Sunshine State for 10 games in 12 days from March 6-13.
