Five Chippewa Gymnasts Earn Academic All-MAC

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Five members of the Central Michigan gymnastics team have been named Academic All-Mid-American Conference.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a 3.20-or-better grade point average and have appeared in at least 50 percent of her team's competitions. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible
The Chippewas named to the squad with their year, hometown, GPA, and major: Sierra DeMarinis, sophomore, Montgomery, Mass., 3.83, biology; Nora Fettinger, junior, Hemlock, 4.00, biology; Kennedy Rae Johnson, junior, Cordova, Tenn., 3.59, geography and cultural-global studies; Denelle Pedrick, senior, Wilcox, Sask., Can., 3.78, exercise science; Morgan Tong, sophomore, Markham, Ont., Can., 3.61, mathematics.
It marks the third-consecutive year that Pedrick has been named Academic All-MAC. Earlier this week, she repeated as the MAC Gymnast of the Year and was named the MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year.
Fettinger and Johnson are repeat honorees. Fettinger is one of three of the 57 Academic All-MAC honorees to have achieved a 4.00 GPA.
