13 Chippewas Gymnasts Earn Scholastic All-America Distinction

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Thirteen members of the Central Michigan gymnastics team earned Scholastic All-America honors for 2019-20 from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association.
In addition, the Chippewas ranked 19th nationally with a 3.6982 cumulative team grade point average. It was an improvement from 2018-19, when the Chippewas ranked 21st with a cumulative 3.6071 GPA.
The Chippewas who were honored, with their year, hometown, 2019-20 grade point average, and major: Sierra DeMarinis, sophomore, Montgomery, Mass., 3.87, biology; Hannah DeMers, freshman, Canton, 3.86, undeclared; Nora Fettinger, junior, Hemlock, 4.00, biology; Audriana Hammond, freshman, Elk Rapids, 3.93, undeclared; Brenna Hauser, freshman, Westfield, Ind., 3.91, communication sciences and disorders; Kennedy Rae Johnson, junior, Cordova, Tenn., 3.61, geography/cultural and global studies; Savana Kotas, freshman, Augusta, Ga., 4.00, exercise science; Denelle Pedrick, senior, Wilcox, Saskatchewan, Can., 3.80, exercise science; Hayley Porter, senior, Bellevue, Neb., 3.70, exercise science; Morgan Tong, sophomore, Markham, Ontario, Can., 3.60, mathematics/actuarial science; Mayleigh Vanderbeek, freshman, Holland, 3.68, undeclared; Ashley Veglucci, freshman, Coram, N.Y., 3.90, undeclared; Sydney Williams, senior, Germantown, Tenn., 3.16, broadcast and cinematic arts.
It marks the fourth time that Pedrick has earned Scholastic All-America honors, and the third time that Porter, Johnson and Fettinger have been so honored.
It brings to 176 the number of times that Chippewa gymnasts have been named a Scholastic All-American in the 30-year history of the award.
