DeMers, Hammond Earn MAC Gymnastics Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan gymnasts Hannah DeMers and Audriana Hammond earned weekly honors from the Mid-American Conference for their performances in the Chippewas' victory in the Illinois State Quad Meet on Sunday.
DeMers, a sophomore from Canton, was named the MAC Gymnast of the Week after posting two career-best scores, including a 9.925 on the floor exercise in tying for first place in the event.
She tied for second on vault (9.850) and tied for fourth on balance beam (9.775). She posted a career-high 39.375 in placing second in the all-around.
Hammond, a sophomore from Elk Rapids, earned the MAC Specialist of the Week Award as she won the uneven parallel bars with a season-best mark of 9.925.
DeMers and Hammond helped lead the Chippewas to a 196.425 team score, CMU's best since 2018 and the highest by a MAC team this season.
