Alice O'Hagan scored her fifth goal of the season to give CMU a 1-0 lead in the first quarter and Emily Maloney scored her first career goal with under a minute left in the half as the Chippewas trailed, 4-2.
Red Flash midfielder Madison Waldspurger recorded a hat trick for the Red Flash, which scored four second-quarter goals.
SFU outshot the Chippewas, 22-4, and finished with a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.
O'Hagan led CMU with two shots on goal while freshman goalkeeper Maja Halasz made 14 saves.
The Chippewas, who are 1-10 overall, will play at Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 7 (3 p.m.). The Buckeyes are 4-5 after defeating Michigan State, 2-1, in overtime on Friday.
