Field Hockey Falls At No. 24 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped a nonconference decision on Friday to No. 24 Ohio State, 7-1, at Buckeye Varsity Field.
Alice O'Hagan scored the Chippewas' lone goal in the final moments of the game by batting a mid-air pass from Heather Canavan. It was O'Hagan's sixth goal of the season and Canavan's second assist.
Freshman Maja Halasz went the distance in goal for CMU and kept the Buckeyes scoreless in the second and fourth quarters. She totaled 11 saves.
Ohio State, which scored three goals in the first quarter and four in the third, was led by Sarah Charley and Makenna Webster, who scored twice each.
The Buckeyes (6-5) finished with an 18-2 lead in shots on goal and 11-3 in penalty corners.
The Chippewas, who are 1-11, are scheduled to play a Mid-American Conference game at Kent State on Sunday, Oct. 9 (noon).
The Golden Flashes (5-5, 3-0 MAC) are tied for the conference lead with Miami (Ohio). CMU is 0-3 in league play.
