Paupore, Wells Lead Track & Field At Grand Valley Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Emily Paupore recorded a second-place finish and a fourth to highlight the performances of the Central Michigan track & field team at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
No team scores were kept at the meet, which started on Friday and concluded on Saturday.
Paupore, a redshirt freshman from Negaunee, finished second in the mile with a time of 4:57.44. She placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:54.24.
CMU thrower Mohogany Wells posted two top-10 finishes; she was fourth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw invitational. Her best shot put measured 44 feet, 4 ¼ inches (13.52 meters) and her top weight throw was 56-2 (17.12 meters).
Two other Chippewa throwers recorded top-10 finishers as Aliyah Boeve was third in the weight throw at 55-7 ¾ (16.92 meters) and Rebecca Herman placed fifth in the shot put at 44-3 ½ (13.51 meters).
Seven other Chippewas posted top-10 finishes: Hayley Manners was sixth in the long jump invitational at 19-2 ¾ (5.86 meters); Natalie Newcombe finished sixth in the mile in 5:05.91; Alyssa Vandegriff placed seventh and in the high jump invitational at 5-4 ½ (1.64 meters); Anya Turner was eighth in the 3,000 in 10:03.94; Lindsey Clarke was ninth in the triple jump at 35-1 ¼ (10.7 meters); Tricia Pierce finished 10th in the pole vault at 11-8 (3.56 meters); and Jelena Prescott was 10th in the 3,000 meters in 10:18.22.
