DeMers Named Gymnast Of The Week

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Hannah DeMers was named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday after her standout performance in the Chippewas' important victory over Kent State on Sunday.
DeMers, a junior from Canton, won the all around, placed first in two events, and set or matched three career highs in leading the Chippewas to a 196.650 team total. It was CMU's best team score since the 2018 MAC Championships when it posted a 197.025.
DeMers won the all around with a 39.550 score, placed first on vault with a 9.900, and tied for first on balance beam at 9.875. DeMers' all around score is a career best and she matched her career highs on vault and beam.
She placed second on floor exercise (9.925) and was fourth on uneven parallel bars (9.850). DeMers' all around score is among the top 20 in the nation this season. She ranks No. 1 in the MAC all around and is 12th nationally.
DeMers helped the Chippewas move into a first-place tie with the Golden Flashes in the MAC. Both are 4-1 in league duals.
