Track & Field Posts 11 Top-10 Finishes

Central Michigan track & field student-athletes posted 11 top-10 finishes at two meets on Saturday.

CMU's Kirsten Spegel posted a second-place finish in the shot put at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State, while the Chippewas' 4x100-meter relay team finished second at the Indiana Invitational.

No team scores were kept at either meet.

Spegel, a freshman, threw 12.32 meters, while the 4x100 team comprising Reghan Draper, Taylor Korytkowski, Hayley Manners and Peyton Korytkowski finished in 46.73 seconds.

CMU's 4x400 relay team also finished third at Indiana. Jericha Petrella, Taylor Korytkowski, Peyton Korytkowski and Olivia Hankey combined to post a 3:47.48 clocking.

Manners also posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 6.01 meters, while Draper finished eighth in the 100-meter dash.

Other CMU top-10 finishes at Indiana: Mohogany Wells, fifth, hammer throw, 55.14 meters; Jericha Petrella, seventh, 400-meter dash, 55.76; Jelena Prescott, ninth, 3000-meter steeplechase, 11:46.94; Nyah Tyron, 10th, 400-meter hurdles, 1:04.01.

Tyron, Prescott, Wells and Petrella are redshirt freshmen.

At Grand Valley, CMU's Angela Kotecki was third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.38) and Jaci Rife was fourth in the long jump (5.10 meters). Both are freshmen.
