Wells, Hankey Highlight CMU Results On Day 1 Of MAC Track & Field Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Central Michigan's Mohogany Wells placed fourth in the hammer throw and Olivia Hankey stands in fifth place in the heptathlon after day one of the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Western Michigan's Kanley Track.
The Chippewas scored five team points on Thursday and stand tied for eighth place in the 12-team meet. The championships continue through Friday and conclude on Saturday.
Wells' best toss in the hammer throw measured 56.05 meters (183 feet, 10 inches).
Hankey turned in a solid performance on the opening day of the seven-event heptathlon, scoring 2994 points. She trails first-place Karlie Zumbro of Ball State by 109 points.
Hankey was second in the 100-meter hurdles, 14.32 seconds; she was third in the 200-meter dash, 25.96 seconds; she tied for third in the high jump, 1.61 meters (5-3 ¼); and she was eighth on the shot put, 9.74 meters (31-11 ½).
The heptathlon concludes on Friday with the long jump, the javelin and the 800-meter run.
Hankey also ran in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday and won her heat to qualify for the final, which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
CMU's Taylor Korytkowski finished fourth in her heat in the 200-meter dash to qualify for the final, which is also scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
