Four home meets highlight 2024 Gymnastics schedule
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Fresh off its second consecutive Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship title, Central Michigan Gymnastics is back in the hunt with its 2024 competition schedule, highlighted four home meets and competitions against a pair of Big 10 opponents and a PAC-12 opponent.
Just as they did in 2023, the Chippewas will compete in an exhibition meet at Michigan with Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan to get things started on December 3rd. The regular season begins in January 2024 with a head-to-head meet at Arizona State on Jan. 8th.
Before taking on its first Mid-American Conference opponents of the year on the road in Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green, CMU will compete at Illinois State in a quad meet with the Redbirds, Texas Woman's University and Greenville University.
The Chippewas host four home meets in 2024, three in the month of February, all taking place at McGuirk Arena. CMU hosts Ball State on Feb. 9, Bowling Green on Feb. 16 and Kent State on Feb. 24.
In March, CMU will compete at Maryland in a quad meet with the Terrapins, William & Mary and George Washington, before heading back to the Mitten State for the Michigan State Tri-Meet with Greenville.
The Chippewa gymnasts close out the regular season at home against Western Michigan on March 15.
The 2024 Mid-American Conference Championship will be hosted in Muncie, Ind. on March. 23.
CMU, led by fifth-year head coach Christine MacDonald and assistant coaches Katy Ordway and Taylor Colwell, returns 13 gymnasts including 2023 MAC Freshman Gymnast of the Year, Luciana Alvarado-Reid.
