Softball Drops Opener at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Central Michigan softball team dropped the series opener against the Toledo Rockets in a 5-1 decision. Central Michigan moves to 16-19 overall and 6-6 in the MAC while Toledo advances to 14-19 overall and 6-7 in the MAC.
The Rockets scored in the first, second, and fourth innings while adding their last two runs in the sixth. Central Michigan's lone run came on a sacrifice fly hit by Michaleigh Vallimont that scored Angela Petrovitch in the top of the seventh inning.
Grace Lehto took the loss for the Chippewas and moves to 6-10 on the season. Lehto threw five innings and was relieved by Madelyn Wallace in the sixth. Wallace entered with no outs and runners on first and second. Lehto was responsible for 11 of Toledo's 12 hits and five of their six runs.
The Chippewas and Rockets will finish the series tomorrow in doubleheader action. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Scott Park in Toledo.
