17 Gymnasts Earn WCGA Scholastic All-America Honors

CMU ranked 15th nationally with 3.68 team GPA
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Seventeen Central Michigan gymnasts have been named to the 2023 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-American team.
Earning WCGA Scholastic All-American honors are freshman Luciana Alvarado-Reid, sophomore Avah Bootz, junior Adriana Bustelo, junior Elizabeth Buttle, junior Elizabeth Cesarone, senior Hannah DeMers, freshman Madison Dukart, sophomore Alexis Garcia, senior Audriana Hammond, senior Brenna Hauser, sophomore Hallie Hornbacher, sophomore Lia Kmieciak, senior Aleysia Kolyvanova, senior Savana Kotas, junior Katie Kowalski, junior Amber Mueller and senior Ashley Veglucci.
To earn WCGA Scholastic All-American honors, a gymnast must earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average either overall or during the 2022-23 academic year. The award includes any gymnast on roster as of Jan. 1 of the awarding season, including redshirts.
Out of 84 qualifying teams, CMU ranked 15th with a team GPA of 3.6852. Audriana Hammond, Lia Kmieciak and Ashley Veglucci maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in the 2022-23 academic year.
DeMers, Hammond, Hauser, Kotas and Veglucci are now four-time honorees. Bustelo, Buttle, Cesarone, Kowalski and Mueller have been honored for the third consecutive year while it is the second year for Garcia, Kmieciak and Kolyvanova.
