Late Goals Keep Field Hockey From Win Against Rider
8/26/2023 4:40:00 PM | Field Hockey
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Central Michigan Field Hockey dropped their first game this season in a 4-3 decision against Rider on Saturday afternoon. The Chippewas played this game at the neutral site, Colgate who hosted the three teams this weekend.
Isabella D'Alessandro scored in the third quarter on a pass from Sophia Havrilla to make the score 2-1 in favor of Rider. Shortly after, Zoey Emrick found the back of the cage on an unassisted shot to even the score at two apiece.
Rider answered with a go-ahead goal with 14 minutes left to play, but not that was not enough to hold off the Chippewas captain, Kate Biglin, who scored at the 57-minute mark. Her goal evened the score at three each with three minutes left to play.
Rider answered less than one minute later to give them the final edge that would conclude the game.
Coletta Beeler played the first half in the cage for the Chippewas, earning her second start in her career. Beeler concluded the game with three saves. Maja Halasz finished the game in cage, giving up two goals and saving five shots.
The Chippewas will open at home against Old Dominion on Friday, September 1st. The contest is scheduled for 1 p.m.
