Standout Belleville point guard officially signs with the Chippewas on National Signing Day
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball officially added Rylan Buschell of Belleville, Mich. for the 2025 class Wednesday afternoon, otherwise known as National Signing Day around NCAA athletics.
"I chose to attend Central Michigan University because of the coaching staff and atmosphere from the first greeting," Buschell said. "Each coach has made a point to have a relationship with me and I truly appreciated that through my recruiting process."
The 5-foot-6 point guard for Belleville High School has already had a decorated career with the Tigers ahead of her 2024-25 senior campaign. The two-time all-state recipient (2021-22 honorable mention, 2024-25 preseason second team) led Belleville to its first state semifinal appearance last spring, set the school's single-game record at 13 assists and appeared alongside future teammate Madi Morson (Canton, Mich. / Salem) in MLive's 2024 Metro Detroit Dream Team release as an honorable mention.
"We're extremely excited for Rylan and her family to be Chippewas," Head Coach Kristin Haynie said. "She is an old-school point guard that brings a high IQ, selfless play and a strong work ethic on the floor. She has a high motor; she fits our system perfectly."
Buschell is a two-time state champion with Michigan Crossover of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, capturing back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019, adding Spartan Classic titles in 2018 and 2020.
The future Chippewas is no slouch in the classroom either, earning Kensington Lakes Activities Association All-Academic Scholar Athlete as a sophomore and junior to go with three straight All-KLAA selections on the court, and has made honor roll in every semester of high school.
