Track & Field Wraps Up Regular Indoor Season at Michigan; Indoor MAC Championships Next Week

Sarah Daniel, Kaitlynn Rush and Annie Bennett made top-5 finishes for the Chippewas in their respective events
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Central Michigan Track and Field got one more regular indoor season meet in on Friday, ahead of the impending Mid-American Conference Championships on Feb. 23-24, by competing in Michigan's Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor.
Top-5 event finishes by Sarah Daniel, Kaitlynn Rush and Annie Bennett in their respective events highlighted the Chippewas' afternoon, as well as a few personal records.
Daniel won the long jump with a mark of 5.57m, besting 14 other competitors.
After finishing 1st in the preliminaries for the 60m sprint, Rush was good for 2nd of 8 with a time of 7.86 in the finals.
In the mile, Bennett was 5th of 24 with a time of 5:10.18.
Alongside Bennett in the event were Emma Janesak (13th), Mara Szuper (14th), Ambria Nagel (15th), Ava Pergitone (17th & PR), Lauren Hasty (18th) and Emma Netzel (19th).
Anna Plum and Sky Austin ran the 200m for CMU. Austin finished 16th and Plum was 17th with a personal best.
In the 400m, Emma Francis finished 11th, with Nicole Olivieri just .12 seconds behind in 12th.
Grace Jenkins was the sole representee for CMU in the 600m. She finished 7th.
Libby Munderloh led CMU in the 800m, finishing 8th. Behind her were Chesney Wilke (10th), Jaci Rife (15th), Amelia Gouin (16th), Jolie Fisher (20th) and Janesak (21st).
The relay squad of Francis, Robyn Watts, Olivieri and Plum took 1st with a time of 4:05.65. Quickly behind were Rife, Jenkins, Gouin and Emma Fountain, finishing in 4:09.90.
Gracie Merrick had two personal-best marks in the shot put in weight throw. She finished 4th in weight throw with a mark of 15.95m, a record by 1.99m, and 9th in the shot put with a 12.18m mark.
Also for the Chippewas in the weight throw was Ereka Risner, who placed 11th.
Emily Yoshino was 7th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.40m. Riley Nielsen, who was 10th, made a personal best 3.25m.
As the regular indoor season comes to a close, CMU looks onward to the Indoor MAC Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24, in Ypsilanti, Mich.
