Hornbacher Earns Weekly MAC Honors

Hallie Hornbacher of Chippewa Gymnastics has earned MAC Specialist of the Week for her Feb. 16 performance on the floor exercise.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan senior gymnast Hallie Hornbacher has earned Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Hornbacher, who hails from Caro, Mich. and is a Bay Valley Academy gym alum, earned a 9.925 score on the floor exercise on Feb. 16 in a non-league meet with Bowling Green in McGuirk Arena.
The score ties the first-time honoree's career-best, having first attained the rating earlier this season at the Northern Illinois Quad Meet. Through seven floor exercise performances, Hornbacher is ranked 5th in the MAC with an average event score of 9.867.
CMU Gymnastics, which is 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference standings, is set to return to competition on Saturday, Feb. 24 in a MAC meet against Kent State.
