MAC Leader Mallory Camryn tabs fifth goal of season
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan fell, 2-1, in overtime to Colgate on Friday in the Chippewas' home opener at Cristy Freese Field.
CMU is now 3-3 on the season, with just one more game on its pre-league slate. The Chippewas will take on Michigan (3-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
Mallory Camryn scored for CMU in the 8th minute, assisted by Isabella D'Alessandro. It was Camryn's fifth goal of the season, and she continues to lead the Mid-American Conference in goals and points.
Colgate tied the game in the 48th minute and scored again 16 seconds into overtime for the win.
Leading CMU were Camryn, who went 4-6 in shots, Carolena Ryon and Amelia Lane, who had three shots each.
Jenna Billig went three periods in goal, tallying one save out of five shots faced. Coletta Beeler was in the cage for the remainder of the game.
CMU led Colgate in shots (17-12) and shots on goal (10-5).
The Chippewas travel to Michigan on Sunday (1 p.m.) before hosting their MAC opener, against Longwood, at Cristy Freese Field on Sept. 20.
