CLEVELAND — Standout sophomores Madi Morson (Canton, Mich. / Salem) and Ayanna-Sarai Darrington (Lexington, Ky. / Frederick Douglass) were named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Mid-American Conference lists Tuesday morning; Morson selected to the league's first team, Darrington to its second team.
Morson was named the MAC Freshman of the Year, and a Second Team All-MAC selection, in 2024-25 as she ranked among the top scorers in the conference, broke CMU's freshman scoring record with 511 points.
Darrington broke out during the conference schedule last season to ascend to a MAC All-Freshman selection. She finished the season with seven double-doubles including a 21-rebound performance against league-champion Ball State (Feb. 26), the most of any freshman in NCAA I last season.
The duo represents two of three sophomores out of 10 total players on the preseason all-league units—five juniors, two seniors round out the group.
Headed into their third season under the direction of Head Coach Kristin Haynie, the Chippewas were slated to finish fifth in the regular season standings by the league's coaches in the MAC's annual poll also release Tuesday—a projected two-spot improvement over CMU's entry as the seventh seed in the 2025 MAC Tournament.
Coach Haynie will appear on the Field of 68 MAC Tip-Off Show Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET. For more information, visit GetSomeMACtion.com or click here.
