Martel charted 15 saves for the eighth time in her career; Martinsen logs second three-point day
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Lacrosse fell, 17-5, to Marquette under heavy snow in the first game of 2025 at the CMU Lacrosse Complex.

Senior goalie Alexa Martel (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Olympia) logged 15 saves, the eighth time she has hit or eclipsed that mark in a game in her career.

Senior attacker Reagan Martinsen (Long Beach, N.Y. / Long Beach) posted a second three-point day to start the season, scoring twice, adding an assist on a Kelsey Barratt (Vorhees, N.J. / Eastern) strike in the third quarter.

Sophomore Amelia Sarap (Granville, Ohio / Granville) broke up the shut out with 3:48 to go in the second, marking her first career goal from a free position attempt.

Freshman Caye Kalbacher (Austin, Texas / Austin) finished a Maggie Merrill (Marriottsville, Md. / Marriotts Ridge) assist near the final minute of the game for her first career strike. Merrill finished the game, her first career start, with two assists after scoring on Sunday at Notre Dame in her first game since 2022.

The contest was moved up from its original 2 p.m. start to Noon in the days leading up to the game. Flurries began late in the second quarter, with the field lines nearly buried before the conclusion—15 minutes prior to the original start time.

Central Michigan Lacrosse heads back out on the road for Lindenwood (Feb. 16, 1 p.m. ET) for the first of three straight (at No. 4/4 Michigan, Feb. 19; at Oregon, Feb. 22). The Chippewas return to host Cincinnati on March 2.
