SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco collected 16 hits including eight for extra bases on Sunday in handing Central Michigan a 15-3 loss in the finale of a four-game nonconference baseball series at Benedetti Diamond.

The Chippewas dropped three of four to the Dons in falling to 2-6. CMU goes to Western Kentucky next weekend for a four-game series. San Francisco is 4-3.

Cole Prout hit a solo home run, his second of the season and of the series, to lead CMU's eight-hit attack. Prout finished with two hits and Rees Campanale singled and doubled.

Chippewa starter Liam Stumpf (0-2) allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings in taking the loss.

The Dons built a 5-0 lead through three innings. The Chippewas scored twice in the sixth on Prout's homer and a Nathan Ball RBI single. They added a run in the eighth on a Campanale RBI double.

San Francisco exploded for 10 runs on six hits in the seventh.
