Chippewa Men's Golf to Host Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday

Tuesday Chippewas golfers excited for a unique event in Napa, Calif.
NAPA, Calif. – Central Michigan's men's golf heads out west to Napa, Calif. on the North Course of the Silverado resort Monday to host the Bridgestone Collegiate invitational alongside the PGA Tour Pathway to Progression and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
2025's rendition of the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational will be the Chippewas second consecutive year hosting the event.
The tournament takes place on Monday and Tuesday, totaling 54 holes. The first 36 will be played Monday, with the final 18 on Tuesday.
The diverse field consists of 14 teams ranging from HBCUs to universities hailing from Japan. The complete field consists of:

North Carolina A&T
Howard
North Alabama
San Francisco
Florida A&M
Santa Clara
California Polytechnic State
University of California, Davis
Texas Southern
Nihon
Tohoku Fukushi
The 2025 rendition of the Bridgestone Collegiate features four HBCU's in North Carolina A&T, Florida A&M, Texas Southern, and Howard. Florida A&M and Howard both competed in the event last season with Howard placing eighth and Florida A&M tying the Chippewas for ninth.
Competing internationally will be Nihon and Tohoku Fukushi. Tohoku Fukushi is a newcomer to the tournament, while Nihon placed third last year.
The tournament will be the Chippewas second encounter this season with Nihon. CMU kicked off the season traveling to Japan to compete alongside Nihon at the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League, where the Chippewas finished sixth of 15.
PGA Tour Champion Hideki Matsuyama is an alumnus of Tohoku Fukushi. Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters to become the first Japanese golfer to win a major men's tournament.
BYU returns as defending champions, shooting -12 in the tournament last season.
Michigan State and North Alabama are the final two returning teams. The Spartans finished fourth last year with the Lions following MSU three strokes behind for fifth.
The individual champion of the Bridgestone Collegiate will be given a Korn Ferry Tour exemption.
