Softball Grabs Victory Over Kent State in Series Opener

The Chippewas recorded their twelfth 10+ game hit of the 2025 season in a MAC win over Kent State.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Team 47 opened the weekend series with Kent State in victory fashion, 7-3.
Freshman London Williams hit her eighth home run of the season to give CMU the 3-0 tilt early in the game in the bottom of the first inning. The round tripper scored Carly Sleeman and Emma Lotus. Lotus started the inning off with a single to the third baseman, and Sleeman drew a walk.
Grace Koenig singled as well in the first inning to score Allyssa Hollo. Hollo reached via double in her first at-bat of the game.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Chippewas added two more with a single from Rachel Cairo. Tori Briggs, who reached via double, and Koenig drew a walk.
Emma Lotus and Tori Briggs recorded mutli-hit games for the Chippewas, while eight total Chippewas got a notch in the hit column.
Lotus recorded her eighth multi-hit game of the season, while Koenig recorded her 10th.
Mackenzie Langan went the distance for the Chippewas in the circle, her eighth complete game of the 2025 season. Langan charted seven strikeouts in the outing.
Central Michigan moves to 17-18 on the season and 9-4 in MAC play. Kent State shifts to 8-25 overall and 0-12 in the MAC.
The two teams will close out the series on Saturday with a double header starting at 1 p.m. at Margo Jonker Stadium.
