Dominant performance by shorthanded Chippewas; Mosley records career-high 17 points, Morson tallies 11th 20-point outing
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball recorded its largest victory all-time at Buffalo, second largest in the series overall, Wednesday afternoon in front of a crowd of nearly 5,000 elementary and middle school-aged kids.
Madi Morson (Canton, Mich. / Salem) led the way as she matched her in-conference average of 23 points, one of four Chippewas to eclipse double digits, her 11th 20-point game of the season. Wednesday marked the third time CMU had four players finish in double figures scoring this season.
Jayda Mosley (Cincinnati, Ohio / Purcell Marian) built upon her season-high performance at Northern Illinois (Jan. 31) with a career-best 17 points supplied by a five-of-nine mark from three-point range. She also accounted for three of CMU's nine steals in the contest, another career mark.
The Chippewas responded to a 5-0 start by the Bulls in the first 90 seconds with a 13-0 run over two-and-a-half minutes. CMU held Buffalo scoreless for a five-minute stretch through the heart of the first quarter, with three steals during the run.
The Bulls trimmed the margin to 17, 54-37, early in the second half before CMU returned fire with a 16-3 run over the next five minutes for a 70-40 lead.
Taylor Anderson (South Lyon, Mich. / East) led a dominant team performance on the glass with 17 rebounds, one shy of her career-high set 10 days ago at Western Michigan and was one point shy of her second double-double. CMU tallied 53 boards, third-most this season, for its fifth 50-plus outing this season.
Ayanna-Sarai Darrington (Lexington, Ky. / Frederick Douglass) and Lilah Turnbull (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Western Reserve) rounded out the double-digits quartet with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Anderson, Turnbull and Rylan Buschell (Belleville, Mich. / Belleville) combined for 16 of the Chippewas' 24 assists—the most since Feb. 1, 2020—with both freshman point guards matching their season highs.
Central Michigan's 90 points were the most in a regular season Mid-American Conference matchup since Jan. 23, 2021 at Akron (92-69).
All eight available Chippewas for Wednesday's contest contributed notably to the contest as all eight had a hand in at least seven points—either by points or assists—and collected multiple rebounds.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball returns for a three-game homestand that begins Saturday (Feb. 7, 1 p.m. ET) against Marshall in the second matchup of the 2025-26 MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. The Chippewas host Akron (Feb. 11, 6:30 p.m. ET) and Western Michigan (Feb. 14, 1 p.m. ET) during the stretch.
