The Chippewas take down Bowling Green, 77-65, behind balanced effort; CMU locked in as the league’s fourth seed in the women’s bracket
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball paid tribute to its seniors Wednesday night with a resounding 77-65 victory over Bowling Green to conclude the 2025-26 regular season.
"It's an awesome feeling," Head Coach Kristin Haynie said. "They deserve it. We had good practices leading up to today. Their energy was great. Both of the seniors left it all on the floor."
The result locked the Chippewas into the fourth seed for the upcoming Mid-American Conference tournament, playing in the second quarterfinal matchup next Wednesday (March 11; approx. 1:30 p.m. ET).
The common refrain for this season, revenge tour, comes to the forefront as the trip to Cleveland emerges from the horizon.
"They put 'revenge tour' on the board last spring and we've been talking about that throughout the year. They don't want to feel how they felt in the locker room at last game last year.
"When we get to Cleveland, anything can happen. We have to play with a chip on our shoulder, and we have to remember that feeling."
The Chippewas honored Taylor Anderson (South Lyon, Mich. / East) and Demetria Prewitt (Madison, Wis. / La Follette) as the program's graduating class.
"I'm very happy that they were part of helping us get back to the top of the MAC. You know, they left this place better than when they came here. and they've done a really good job of being team first."
Anderson came one bucket away from her third double-double, and second straight, with nine points, 10 rebounds; Prewitt set a career mark with four blocks—the most in a game for the Chippewas since Senior Day 2024 (Rochelle Norris, 6)—and was one of four in double figures with 11 points.
Madi Morson (Canton, Mich. / Salem) led Wednesday night's contest with 29 points, her 15th game of 20-plus after four straight short of the plateau.
Ayanna-Sarai Darrington (Lexington, Ky. / Frederick Douglass) and Jayda Mosley (Cincinnati, Ohio / Purcel Marian) each tallied 12 to underscore the productive sophomore class.
The first of four Mosley three-pointers took the lead for good for the Chippewas, 17-16, early in the second quarter. CMU outscored the Falcons, 23-14, over the remainder of the quarter for a 40-30 halftime margin.
A 14-5 run in the latter half third quarter iced it; the lead never dipped back into single digits for the final 11 minutes. Morson collected nine points during the run and assisted CMU's other field goal, Mosley's fourth long ball.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball will face either Ohio (16-12; 10-7 MAC) or Toledo (15-13; 9-8 MAC) in the opening round of next week's MAC Championship tournament, held at Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland.
