Meghan Thornburg is in her second year as Central Michigan women’s basketball director of basketball operations.
In 2019-20, Thornburg’s first with the Chippewas, CMU continued to solidify its reputation as the Mid-American Conference’s premier program and one of the very best mid-majors in the nation as it finished 23-7, won a fourth-consecutive MAC regular-season championship, a fifth-straight MAC West title, claimed the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament, earned a third-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, and captured a slew of individual postseason awards.
The ’19-20 Chippewas finished 10th in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll and carried an RPI of 22, far and away the best among MAC teams and fourth best among all mid-majors. The Chippewas put together a remarkable streak during which they won 22 of 23 games, including a 15-0 start in MAC play.
Thornbug oversees CMU's travel arrangements and equipment along with the team's film exchange, budget and managers, and assists with the facilitation of camps and helps the remainder of the coaching staff in the day-to-day operations of the program.
Thornburg served in the Purdue women’s program from 2012-19, first as the head student manager and then as a graduate assistant, working alongside the program’s director of operations. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue.
