ATHENS, Ohio - Paced by a pair of career-highs from freshmen Erin Kuhl and Chasidy Myers, the Central Michigan University women's basketball team claimed a 66-63 win here Monday night over Ohio University.
The Chippewas are now 10-11 for the season and 4-6 in Mid-American Conference action while the host Bobcats are now 7-15 and 3-8.
Kuhl, a smooth 5-9 guard, drilled 21 points while the 6-2 Myers registered career bests for both points (14) and rebounds (seven). They were the only two Chippewas in twin figures.
CMU held a 31-29 halftime lead before OU bolted out to a 45-37 lead in the second half with 12:10 remaining. However, the Chippewas countered with 14 unanswered points to cop a 51-45 edge. The key basket in the run was a jumper from the foul line by Myers that put CMU ahead, 46-45, with 8:53 to go.
Candace Bates and Latreece Bagley led Ohio with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
CMU made 25-of-52 shots from the field for 48 percent compared to OU's 23-of-48 for 47.9 percent. The Chippewas also held a 32-27 edge in rebounding.
