MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich - Elaina Enich scored four goals Sunday in leading Cincinnati to a 15-4 nonconference women's lacrosse victory over Central Michiganat the CMU Lacrosse-Soccer Stadium.
The Chippewas, who have lost three straight games, fell 1-4. The Bearcats improved to 2-4. Central Michigan will play host to Gardner-Webb (0-7) in a nonconference game on Tuesday (3 p.m.).
"It's disappointing," said CMU coach Sara Tisdale, whose team trailed, 7-1, at halftime and was down 13-1 at one point in the second half. "I felt like we weren't ready to compete, we had about half the team with the stomach flu all week. Unfortunately, we have to learn to dig in regardless of circumstances and be willing to compete on game day."
Emma Hamilton scored two goals and Anna Schoonover and Riley Huda had one each for the Chippewas.
Schoonover shares the team lead with Shannon Doyle with eight goals on the season. Hamilton has scored five goals in CMU's last two games and has six on the year.
"Emma comes in and you see her run and she plays fearlessly, and that's what we need from our other attackers." Tisdale said. "We have some veteran attackers coming in right now that aren't really stepping up the way we need them to step up.
"Then you get a burst of energy from someone like Emma Hamilton, who doesn't even really know any better. Here she is in her fourth collegiate game running and competing. I'll take that any day."
"I don't how you get a click back with being fluid and connected, but that's what we're going to work on in practice." Tisdale said. "We're going to put 12 people on the field willing to compete for 60 minutes."
Dominique Hamman and Hope Murray split the game in goal. Hamman made six saves in 39:25; Murray made two in 20:35.
