10 Chippewa Gymnasts Named A Scholastic All-American

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Ten members of the Central Michigan gymnastics team earned Scholastic All-American honors for 2017-18 from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association.
The Chippewas who were honored, with their year, their hometown, their 2017-18 grade point average, and major: Abbie Zoeller, junior, Flowery Beach, Ga., 3.77, exercise science: clinical; Bryttany Kaplan, senior, Parker, Colo., 4.00, recreation and event management; Courtney Campbell, senior, Plymouth, 3.65, biology-biomedical and Spanish; Denelle Pedrick, sophomore, Wilcox, Sask., 3.78, exercise science: clinical; Gianna Plaksa, junior, Mountain Top, Pa., 3.97, biology-biomedical; Hayley Porter, sophomore, Bellevue, Neb., 3.56, exercise science: kinesiology; Katy Clements, senior, Gainsville, Ga., 4.00, journalism; Kennedy Johnson, freshman, Cordova, Tenn., 3.71, cultural and global studies; Macey Hilliker, senior, Bay City, 3.65, community health education; Nora Fettinger, freshman, Hemlock, 4.00, biology.

It marks the fourth time that both Campbell and Kaplan have earned Scholastic All-American honors, and the third time that Clements and Plaksa have been so honored. Pedrick garnered the honor for the second consecutive season.

It brings to 153 the number of times that Chippewa gymnasts have been named a Scholastic All-American by the NACGW in the 28-year history of the award.

To receive the award, a student-athlete must have earned a cumulative or year-long GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The Chippewas finished the academic year with a combined cumulative GPA of 3.4988, which ranked 32nd in the nation.
