CMU back in mid-major top 25
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women's basketball team looks to make it a perfect 4-for-4 on its homestand and extend its win streak to four games when it entertains Iona on Thursday (7 p.m.) in a nonconference game at McGuirk Arena.
The Chippewas opened their homestand with an 81-80 victory over Dayton on Nov. 21 – it was CMU's first victory of the season and the first for first-year coach Heather Oesterle – and followed with wins over Northeastern and Marist.
CMU will take a nine-day break after the Iona game and then head to South Dakota State for a nonconference game on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Last Time Out
The Chippewas doubled up Marist, 42-21, in the second half in posting a 77-54 victory. Micaela Kelly scored 23 points and Kyra Bussell added 18 to lead CMU. Kelly became the 31st player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone.
The Chippewas held a wide 50-29 rebounding advantage in knocking off the Red Foxes, who entered the game ranked ninth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.
Moving Back Up
The Chippewas are 15th this week in the poll, moving up 13 spots from No. 28. CMU began the season ranked 12th and then lost its first three games, one to No. 2 Louisville and another to Green Bay, which is ranked 11th in the mid-major poll.
Tough Slate
There are five teams in this week's mid-major poll that the Chippewas have played or are scheduled to play this season. They are No. 9 Buffalo, No. 10 Marist, No. 11 Green Bay, No. 12 South Dakota State, and No. 13 Ohio.

Bussell leads the Chippewas in rebounding at 7.8 per game. Davis and Kelly average 4.3 and 3.8 assists per game, respectively.
