Chippewas look to remain unbeaten in league
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan gymnastics team look to remain undefeated and atop the Mid-American Conference on Friday (7 p.m.) when they welcome Bowling Green to McGuirk Arena.

Central Michigan is 10-1 and, at 3-0, the lone unbeaten team in the MAC. The Chippewas defeated Eastern Michigan last week, posting a 195.050 team score, their third-highest score of the season.

CMU ranks 39th nationally, averaging 194.500.

Bowling Green is 1-10, 0-4. The Falcons scored a 194.375 last Friday in topping Towson in a nonconference dual for their first win of the season. On Sunday, they posted a 194.075 in falling to Kent State in a MAC meet.

CMU ranks No. 35 in the nation in floor exercise, No. 36 on bars, and No. 42 in both vault and balance beam.

Senior Gianna Plaksa is 47th nationally in the all-around with a 39.050 average. Plaksa won the bars last week with a 9.825 against Eastern Michigan.

Junior Denelle Pedrick sits at No. 61 in the nation in the all-around, averaging 38.917. Pedrick won three of the four events against Eastern, placing first on the vault with a 9.800, first on beam with a 9.900, and first on floor with a 9.900. She also tied for first in the all-around with a 38.850.

Pedrick this week earned the MAC Gymnast of the Week Award for the third time this season.
