CMU returns home to entertain Michigan on Sunday
How It Happened
The Buckeyes scored five second-quarter goals in building a 6-0 halftime lead. The Chippewas (2-4), who did not record a shot in the first half, held the Buckeyes (4-1) to one goal in the first quarter.
"I thought we played really well in the first quarter," CMU coach Catherine Ostoich said. "We gave them a goal very early, but then played some good defense. We actually had some attacking opportunities, just couldn't get anything out of it.
"It kind of fell apart in the second quarter. To Ohio State's credit, they scored some very nice goals. There's not much you can do off of those really nice ones."
The Chippewas showed signs of life in the fourth quarter, tallying their only four shots of the game, three of which came from freshman Alice O'Hagan.
Good Signs
Ostoich said she saw some positives out of her team, particularly in the first quarter when they held Ohio State to one goal.
"We played with each other," she said. "The goal went in and it was like, 'OK, we're fine, not a big deal,' and we played around each other, we communicated, everything like that. We have to play with each other and we have got to make sure that we're communicating constantly."
Ohio State finished with a 29-4 edge in shots. Chippewa goalkeeper Abigail Ebersole tallied eight saves.

The Chippewas return home on Sunday (1 p.m.) for a nonconference game with the 11th-ranked Michigan at the CMU Field Hockey Complex. The Wolverines (2-2) were scheduled to play host to No. 3 Connecticut on Friday night.
