MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women's basketball team returns to court on Wednesday as it hits the stretch run of the regular season.
The Chippewas welcome Toledo to McGuirk Arena for a 5 p.m. tipoff. CMU is 13-7 overall and in second place in the MAC at 11-5. The Chippewas trail first-place Bowling Green by 1 ½ games and they lead third-place Ohio by one-half game.
Toledo is 9-11 overall, 5-11 MAC, and in ninth place in the league.
The top eight teams advance to Cleveland for the conference tournament. The Chippewas defeated Toledo, 83-74, on Jan. 27 in Toledo as Molly Davis scored 27 points and the Chippewas used a late 8-3 spurt to pull away.
Rush to the Finish
The Chippewas have four games remaining. They are scheduled to go to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 27, and to Ball State on Wednesday, March 3. They close the regular season at home on Saturday, March 6 against Northern Illinois.
CMU has clinched a MAC Tournament berth, but its seed will depend on what happens over the next two weeks. Any hopes CMU harbors of winning a fifth-consecutive MAC regular-season title rest first on the Chippewas winning the remainder of their games and, second, Bowling Green losing down the stretch.
The Falcons' game at Ohio, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed. They have three scheduled games remaining: Akron, Kent State and Buffalo.
