Softball Entertains Toledo In Tuesday Matinee

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan softball team returns home this week for a midweek Mid-American Conference doubleheader with Toledo at Margo Jonker Stadium on Tuesday (1 p.m.).
The Chippewas are 11-25, 9-17 MAC after being swept in a four-game series at Kent State last weekend. Toledo is 22-19, 12-13, and last weekend split a four-game series at Ball State.
Tuesday's twinbill is the first meeting of the season between the Chippewas and Rockets. They are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Toledo on Wednesday, May 12.
Sophomore Caitlyn Britton remains hot for the Chippewas. She homered in each of the final two games at Kent State and has four round-trippers on the season, all of which have come in CMU's last nine games.
Britton has also raised her average to .360, which leads the team. Freshman Abbey Tolmie is second on the team with a .333 batting average, while senior Shaidan Knapp, CMU's leadoff hitter, is hitting .330.
Cleanup hitter Shannon Stein leads the Chippewas with six home runs and 29 RBI.
